ITSUKUSHIMA TERMINAL

本土と厳島を結ぶフェリーターミナル。厳格な軸線と対称性も持つ計画とし厳島神社と呼応する。施設中央を横切るプロムナードが街の回遊性及び大小の公共広場と施設の連携を高める。プロムナードを介し、片方は木で包まれた空間が優しく人々を迎え入れ、一方はランダム且つわずかにずれたエンボス加工の鏡面ステンレス天井により天気、時間や人の動きにより空間の雰囲気が刻々変化し厳島への旅のドラマ性を増幅する。
- Itsukushima Shrine is located on an island and ferry is the only transportation to reach the shrine. New ferry terminal was organized as to better accommodate increasing tourists. A promenade runs in the middle of building expands visitors’ accessibility and interacts between open plaza and facility. A half of building facing town welcomes tourists with wooden space, on the other hand, the ocean side reflects weather, time and movement with embossed mirror finish stainless steel ceiling panels that raise expectation towards their journey to the shrine.
